He's generally pretty jumpy but polite and "mature," not as kind or empathetic as Mob maybe but Mob is just a whole other deal. Also the very entertaining cynical/judgmental inner monologue he has that the fandom over-exaggerates to him being an asshole always. He's just such an interesting character in general. He really doesn't have proper friends at school because he just makes himself serious and polite always and doesn't give people a chance to see his weird jumpy personality that Mob gets to see (and his parents I guess? They're just kinda there). He definitely grew up being told he was mature for his age and it turned into a standard he had to hold himself to (again. relatable). So he doesn't let people in, refuses to take that wall down and just be himself. I remember reading an analysis that said Shou was his first real friend because he saw the side of Ritsu that he doesn't willingly show to people, meaning Ritsu could already be more himself w Shou than he could anyone else. He's super flighty and jumpy when he doesn't know what to do in a situation, and he acts so fucking dry when he's embarrassed (like at the maid cafe w Shou. He's a middle schooler who has such crazy high expectations put on him. He's constantly praised by his parents especially and his whole life he's had to watch them compare Shigeo to him and point out what Shigeo was bad at, when in Ritsu's mind his brother was the highest standard he could ever hold himself to that he'd never be able to reach, especially without powers. When the kid goes "Stop acting like your brother," it's so interesting how thats almost Ritsu's last straw and what pushes him to participate in Shinji's plans. Because his whole life he's viewed himself as the total opposite of Shigeo. Skilled at everything except what he wanted to be (w psychic powers). Praised for grade and athletics when it all meant nothing to Ritsu compared to how powerful his brother is. oh my god the lil ritsu kitties are adorable!! he was actually my favorite character when i first watched the anime bc of the big cleanup arc also the parallels that were drawn between him and shou in regard to their respective families was really interesting to me.
but!! my current fave is serizawa!!!! serizawa my beloved my light my everything this man means SO much to me. i am an absolute sucker for real redemption arcs where its not just "this character is nice now!" but we actually get to see them work on growing out of their past selves, and i feel like mp100 really excels with those in general but serizawa in particular just really hits for me because hes such a sweet and earnest guy despite everything thats happened to him. like he really could hate the world for making him think he was a monster, for taking advantage of him like suzuki did, but he Doesn't because he has seen mobs unshakable belief in the goodness of others and he wants to share that kindness! he wants to help other people be better, too, because if he deserves it then everyone deserves it! his parallels with mob are another thing i love because they really are kindred spirits, they were both afraid of their powers and locked themselves up in different ways but are growing thanks to the love of others! serizawa to me is just the perfect encapsulation of the idea that its never too late to start doing the right thing, which is a message that resonates with me a lot. you can fuck up in many different ways but you can never fuck up so much that youre beyond getting better, you just need people who can help you see that. and serizawas got those people! i wish there was more fan content of him and mob being friends :'). his relationship with reigen too is also really nice, its wonderful that he has someone to encourage him to think for himself and take steps to improve at his own pace!
tldr serizawa is so good and means so much to me and i love that his life isnt over because of his past mistakes. its never too late to start trying again!!

I didn't pick up on the fact that he had brainwashed Mob until that point, and something about it just DESTROYED me. literally sick and twisted cannot believe dimple is the only character that made me sob....

I'm a lot more energetic/emotive, but the sort of putting on a mask sort of thing and being polite to everyone even if he doesn't actually care much for them (with some exceptions from Ritsu, esp after the Big Clean-Up arc and also w Reigen in general help). Even with all the dramatic emotional and traumatic shit, he's just. Really silly? And I think people either forget or don't notice. When Ritsu's irritated or angry he's super easy to read and expressive which is always funny, he likes playing video games and poking fun at people, he won't hesitate to kick someone's ass for Shige because he knows Shige won't defend himself and he cares about his brother SO much. He would carry spoons around with him fucking everywhere which probably just turned into a habit and that's so funny. He bonded with Shou quickly in a way he hadn't with anyone else because they shared similar trauma/anxiety (I don't wanna call his fear of Mob trauma but it sort of it so). He's super flighty and jumpy when he doesn't know what to do in a situation, and he acts so fucking dry when he's embarrassed (like at the maid cafe w Shou. That will never not be hilarious holy shit). And like the scene where Takenaka just fucking reads him so easily and he's like ?!??! DID MY MIND SAY THAT ? Like Ritsu really just is a kid. I think it's also really important why that comment from the student council president while the two are crossing the street hits Ritsu so hard. It seems like it frusterates him that both no one seems to acknowledge how amazing Shigeo is, and that Shige himself won't acknowledge it/hides it away. Which kinda connects back to the incident when they were little, and how Ritsu really did want to talk about it but Shigeo had already decided to shut him out completely as if it was going to protect him. Even after all those years we still see Ritsu trying to reach out, asking if Shigeo is okay or if he needs anything, because despite what he says in the alleyway Ritsu still really wants his relationship w Shige back. He looks up to his big brother so much its idolizing, and he looks down on himself too. He's terrified of that "thing" inside his brother, but he still loves him so much. And the way Ritsu in the finale realizes and accepts that % isnt a seperate entity is SOOO important. I could type a whole other essay and how he doesn't actually hate Reigen I swear to god that's a whole other can of worms. But I think the fandom should allow him to be a bit more playful and silly in general. Best word I've seen to describe him is neurotic bc he really is. I wish I could type up like a proper analysis but my brain always struggles with wording stuff until I see someone else say it and I'm like "holy shit theyre right." AGHJHH THE DOODLES ARE SO CUTE! and I loved reading this!! I totally agree that the fandom can over exaggerate his . Prickliness at times (can I say how much I love his cactus motif thing they did in the first season it was baller and also incredibly silly. The fact that he was astronomically more spiked while he was stressed? Great) and I really wish his silliness got shown more by the fandom!! The bit where mob was talking to his family about how he didn't know what to do and Ritsu is like! Oh! A magician of course! And everybody's inner dialogue says "so simple..." Like that's CUTE but he's always reduced to anger when I feel like that may actually be a trait that's actually left behind in s2, maybe really s1 after he reconciles with his brother. (Referring to His anger as a knee jerk response to his fear of mob.) I think he's more standoffish/awkward than angry and it pains me when people just make him outwardly MEAN !!! At least resign it to his inner monologue or something he doesn't need to be verbally destroying every character he meets omg (ALSO HES KIND OF . SOFT? THAT BOY CRIES SO MUCH BUT ITS COMPLETELY IGNORED BY FANS I FEEL) And I'd like it a lot if Teru and Rits became better friends!! I deffo like to think after they fight against claw they bond a bit more . During the confession arc (this is an anime exclusive edition apparently so I guess they were rooting for Ritsu n Teru) Ritsu hauls Teru's Dead Ass up to somewhere out of harm which I thought was really sweet. They've both got the popular kid thing going on, and Rits does at the very least admire teru's prowess with his powers (though I do feel this admiration was quickly smothered by Teru's God Awful Fashion Sense . Sorry Teru) i think they'd be really fun. Something I'm a big fan of is the Ritsu Shou and Teru trio where Shou and Teru are SORT of trying to mentor Rits in his psychic powers..? But mostly they just end up fucking around and having fun. They push Rits to be a little less reclusive I feel

My fave is Teru!!! Mob psycho's really good at balancing the "Oh my god they're so badass" and the "jesus Christ they're so unserious" in characters and BOY . Teru is a great example of that. I both love and hate the fact that his backstory isnt really told explicitly, and that we only really get to know separate details and have to put them together ourselves. It keeps his character fun to speculate about, I think (and oooo mysterious backstory charm but it's not that mysterious bc . Yk) And I really like his "charmer" personality I guess?? It makes it so that he works well with pretty much all the characters and that let's me create Friendships that Maybe should have never existed in the first place but they do now (cough tome and Teru cough and Shou) and the fact thag hes also. A (former) Delinquent while putting up that ^_^ facade. My god. It's great he's such a silly guy and I love him . He also reads as really. Trans . To me . I'm probably projecting but that's a he/she if I've ever seen one

I LOVE DIMPLE!!! my good friend dimple :) the green boy. i like how his brutal honesty is such a contrast to reigen as an influence on mob HE IS THE BEST i think he deserves a smooch honestly what a good green guy man when he brainwashed mob to walk out of the tree during the divine tree arc i cried so hard because what the fuck. mob seeing him as just the normal spirit and then we see godmode dimple with his arms cut off and shit. fucking devastating i love it YES YES this is the only scene in the ENTIRE anime that had me like proper sobbing. specifically that part where Mob is slowly walking away, and he turns around to see a regular dimple waving back and smiling, and then it shows the audience what dimple really looked like. I didn't pick up on the fact that he had brainwashed Mob until that point, and something about it just DESTROYED me. literally sick and twisted cannot believe dimple is the only character that made me sob.... YEAH that ruined me. fuck dimple i fucking hate this guy. what the fuck. he makes me so sad. GOD WHYYYY

Hello!! I thought this would be silly and also I'll use any opportunity to word vomit so I made this thread Tell me about your fav mob character!! Anime or Manga, main char or side char, whatever you want! Why do you like them? What drew you to them? Fav scene of them? Fav screencap/panel? Tell me anything I will go first !!! (and if you read all this I am both incredibly sorry and very happy you did so) Honestly I'm pretty sure in the beginning I didn't think much of Ritsu. I watched through all of the series w an online friend, and the main joke we had about him was that he was an emo version of Hero from Omori (which is still partially accurate but. Yknow). I can't remember when I first started getting more attatched to him, I think at some point I was like Wait. This kid is Silly ?? And I started seeing the similarities between him and myself. It was either during Big Cleanup or during the World Domination arc I'm not sure. Either way. The first sorta thing that drew me to Ritsu (in regards to relating to him) was mainly the perfectionism, feeling less than, that sort of stuff. He also seems quite obsessive. But the other thing was actually his personality that I relate to a lot. I'm a lot more energetic/emotive, but the sort of putting on a mask sort of thing and being polite to everyone even if he doesn't actually care much for them (with some exceptions from Ritsu, esp after the Big Clean-Up arc and also w Reigen in general help). I'm not sure if Teru fully counts as a friend to him, they don't seem to mind eachother tho Teru is obviously more attatched to Mob. I do like to think Ritsu and Teru grow closer too eventually. I also remember reading another thing that explained how all the characters in MP100 are lonely, they just deal with it differently and that's so neat to me. Another reason to relate to Ritsu is the loneliness and refusal to let people in (which hopefully he works on but yknow, and that may be easier after the final anime arc since. all that stuff happened) But like. I think it's also really important why that comment from the student council president while the two are crossing the street hits Ritsu so hard. He realizes it's still his brother, and he just needs support because being scared of himself is what led to the explosion in the first place. Ritsu always tried to "be there" for Shige, but there was alwasy that underlying guard of "I need to be careful. What if it happens again" that prevented him from being completely sincere. And even if getting powers and the 7th Division arc sort of helped Ritsu start working through the trauma, it wasn't until he saw % again that he realized he had been viewing it wrong. Going to be so fucking honest I have no idea where I was going with this. I just think Ritsu is SUCH an interesting character, and the fandom treats him far too seriously. I could type a whole other essay and how he doesn't actually hate Reigen I swear to god that's a whole other can of worms. But I think the fandom should allow him to be a bit more playful and silly in general. Best word I've seen to describe him is neurotic bc he really is. I wish I could type up like a proper analysis but my brain always struggles with wording stuff until I see someone else say it and I'm like "holy shit theyre right." So I really wanna read more on people analyzing Ritsu (as well as Shou because I LOVE Shou too). And don't even get me started on Ritshou. Platonic, romantic, whatever, I could talk about them for so long. They are so interesting to me. Anyway uhm. If you read this whole thing, here's a small gift. (I have so many drawing of mob psycho cats. I will share them soon.)

The cactis motif is really neat and I love how disheveled he looked every time he used his powers it was so goofy. Like perfect mr straight a's looks like he got struck w lightening a few times its great. AND YOU GET IT OMG he's literally so dorky?? like as much as he's gone through and as much as he struggles with he's still a middle schooler (this goes for literally almost all the charactrs), he's still kinda naive and highly emotional and thinks he's all perfect and mature when he's literally 13. he's a little weirdo we gotta stop boiling it down to "lol he likes spoons" come ONNN Also x2 I actually didn't know that was anime exclusive thats interesting? But yeah its really sweet he doesnt just leave Teru in the middle of nowhere buttnaked and comatose I love love love imagining Teru and Ritsu as having a sort of brotherly dynamic, almost one that he can't quite have with Mob? at least not yet. like one where Ritsu admires Teru's skills with his powers but is also aware that he's a huge nerd too and can tease him about stuff without worrying. and ofc Teru being a kind of overbearing big brother figure (one of my fav things is how he just continues to call Ritsu "little brother" despite knowing his name. it's so funny) but also being proud of Ritsu's accomplishments and how quick he is to pick stuff up. And ofc they get up to some shenanigans as well Plus (aside from the finale where everyone experiences it) both Ritsu and Teru have a taste of seeing Mob at 100% and being terrified one way or another. So Teru can probably sympathize as well as maybe try and help since he sees it from a different pov (Also I hope you don't mind me like throwing hundreds of words at you in these replies I can never tell if I'm doing too much NDCJSCN I'm just. a wee bit exciteable.)

Trans . To me . I'm probably projecting but that's a he/she if I've ever seen one Thats so true tbh like he's such a dynamic and fun character you can kinda pair him up with anyone and you'll have something interesting. and I think people (including me) tend to forget he literally was a delinquent which is so funny. it's probably because of his super preppy cheery attitude but that almost adds to it. like in the 7th division arc when they all split up, and it cuts to Teru putting on that stereotypical thug voice to scare the claw members... its SO so funny and you are SO so right. i personally hc him as trans and genderfluid but one way or another that kid is NOT cisgender or straight

AND TO ADD ON TO THAT HIS THING HE HAS WITH WATERBOARDING??? IS SO FUNNY??? Oh my god Boy You are fourteen please Put the Bucket down. (AND THE FACT THAT REIGEN AND MOB JUST LET HIM TORTURE PEOPLE. I CANT) (NOT THAY IT WASNT DESERVED) BUT YEAH I do love his duality so so much I deffo think post canon he relaxes a bunch more and regains some of his more sarcastic habits but is still a nice guy yk. And Omg LET ME JUST MENTION -- I love love seeing all the different clothes he goes through in the first 2 seasons - he changes clothes TWICE in the wd arc which is hilarious because WHERE . did he get those clothes WHAT! He's deffo the character that cycled through the most outfits apart from maybe mob -- I was super sad when they reused that red shirt for pretty much the entirety of the 3rd season and he was mostly in his uniform!!m; (though I did like the scarf during confession arc it was cute) . It doesn't really help that the red shirt sort of looks like a recolor of his jean shirt one from S2 π But Yeah I love him . Give him more outfits Now Can I just say how much I love mob psychos clothes actually. Tomes outfit was SO cute and also ALL OF INUKAWAS CLOTHES??? I LOVE THE DOG THEME SO MUCH .

Teru's outfits were super fun like he's so goofy you can almost tell he is a 14 year old that was allowed to pick his own clothes (i say this affectionately) The scarf was also really cute and just like a nice little detail that wasn't super important he just looked cute All of Mob's sweaters too hello?? The pink turtle neck in particular is kind of iconic And then there's Reigen........

AGHJHH THE DOODLES ARE SO CUTE! and I loved reading this!! I totally agree that the fandom can over exaggerate his . Prickliness at times (can I say how much I love his cactus motif thing they did in the first season it was baller and also incredibly silly. Like that's CUTE but he's always reduced to anger when I feel like that may actually be a trait that's actually left behind in s2, maybe really s1 after he reconciles with his brother. I guess he can't really call them both kageyama so he went with that (or he doesn't remember his name. Would Not put it entirely Past him To be honest) in a way I kind of feel like Teru was way more comfortable with Rits than mob during the show so it was fun to see him interact somewhat normally with another kid (that ep where Ritsu and teru are working in mobs place bc he was out. So unserious I love it so much) AND NO IDM THE WORD DUMPS AT ALL I enjoy reading everything you have to say

YES I LOVE THAT BIT FROM 7TH DIVISION SO MUCH!!! AND TO ADD ON TO THAT HIS THING HE HAS WITH WATERBOARDING??? IS SO FUNNY??? Oh my god Boy You are fourteen please Put the Bucket down. (AND THE FACT THAT REIGEN AND MOB JUST LET HIM TORTURE PEOPLE. I CANT) (NOT THAY IT WASNT DESERVED) BUT YEAH I do love his duality so so much I deffo think post canon he relaxes a bunch more and regains some of his more sarcastic habits but is still a nice guy yk. And Omg LET ME JUST MENTION -- I love love seeing all the different clothes he goes through in the first 2 seasons - he changes clothes TWICE in the wd arc which is hilarious because WHERE . did he get those clothes WHAT! He's deffo the character that cycled through the most outfits apart from maybe mob -- I was super sad when they reused that red shirt for pretty much the entirety of the 3rd season and he was mostly in his uniform!!m; (though I did like the scarf during confession arc it was cute) . It doesn't really help that the red shirt sort of looks like a recolor of his jean shirt one from S2 π But Yeah I love him . Give him more outfits Now Can I just say how much I love mob psychos clothes actually. Tomes outfit was SO cute and also ALL OF INUKAWAS CLOTHES??? I LOVE THE DOG THEME SO MUCH . No honestly tho like its really refreshing to not have the characters wear the same thing the entire time. Teru's outfits were super fun like he's so goofy you can almost tell he is a 14 year old that was allowed to pick his own clothes (i say this affectionately) The scarf was also really cute and just like a nice little detail that wasn't super important he just looked cute All of Mob's sweaters too hello?? The pink turtle neck in particular is kind of iconic And then there's Reigen........ YEAHHHHG the cyan shirt and purple jeans fit? Great. I hope he never changes. AND YEAHHH mobs pink turtle neck was so cute it fits him really well tbh God . Reigen has two outfits he opens his closet and it's just 40 grey suits and his pajamas. If he's feeling adventurous he will put on a trench coat . Thinking about it now it's kind of funny we never see him in any other clothing?? Kind of lends to the fact that mob really only sees him at work and/or reigen is pretty much always working or at home. Classic .. I guess we had that weird ass fishing vest thing from separation arc? not my most favorite thing to come out of mp;;

Ok first of all thank you for reading the whole thing I am giving you a gold star for that Also yes!! So Teru can probably sympathize as well as maybe try and help since he sees it from a different pov (Also I hope you don't mind me like throwing hundreds of words at you in these replies I can never tell if I'm doing too much NDCJSCN I'm just. a wee bit exciteable.) OHHGH YOUR RESPONSE IS MAKING ME THINK OF HOW FUN A % , RITSU, AND TERU COMIC WOULD BE.. AND OMG the ototo thing is SO . Cute . So unserious I love it so much) AND NO IDM THE WORD DUMPS AT ALL I enjoy reading everything you have to say YOU'RE RIGHTTT oh my god the episode where they're helping Reigen out was hysterical. Ritsu is so dramatic always and Teru is just clueless Tbh i think at first he didn't know/remember Ritsu's name and then he just kept it up for the bit. But honestly out of the espers the two (Ritsu and Teru) had met, they could act most normal around each other. Because Teru totally idolized Mob for a while, and even after the 7th division arc Ritsu still had some of that fear of Mob leftover too I think. Neither were gonna talk to Reigen obv, and even when Shou showed up (haha) he def wasn't someone either of them would be super comfortable around right away. I am very first believer of the Ritsu and Teru best friends agenda. Would love to hear them shit talk ALSO you are so sweet omg same goes for you !!
