Saw this gaming section. Had to invade.
Hi so Omori is a psychological horror rpg that covers topics of guilt, trauma, depression, anxiety etc. incase you have not heard of it somehow. It's one of my BIGGEST interests (possibly a special interest not sure) and I love preaching about it to anyone who will listen
(Forewarning it's not everyones cup of tea and the creator is kind of problematic so like.... if that bothers u at all then thats valid)
ANYWAY. I think Omori is an incredibly made game. I fell in love w the art style the first time I played it and as soon as I heard the starting screen music I was like oh my GOD!! I LOVE this!!! The characters are all very charming (I am incredibly partial to Kel myself as I kin him and dressed as him this past Halloween and also he May be me irl? Not sure) and the fighting mechanics are incredibly neat to me. It implements a really neat emotion system that impacts damage, speed, and other stats.
Also the way the game and certain fights implement themes of anxiety and panic attacks were really really interesting to me and also felt really relatable/fitting as someone who struggles w chronic anxiety and depression.
I've currently played the game 3 times (once was walking a friend through the entire thing), I'm working on my 4th playthrough on my switch and am also participating in a 2nd playthrough with previously mentioned friend so. Perhaps I am a little mentally ill. WHo knows!
ANYWAY x2 if anyone wants to chat about Omori or share headcanons or anything PLEAAASE feel free I genuinely love that game so much. It's my favorite game ever tied with The Last Guardian (which I could also talk about forever my god I need to rewatch a playthrough of that soon).
Spreading my propaganda one forum thread at a time.
HOWEVER! As difficult as it is I think my #1 tip is to PLEASE go in blind, little to no spoilers, especially huge ones. The ending to the main route hits so much harder that way and I ruined it for myself by getting impatient. I promise it's worth resisting the urge to look at fanart or cosplays.
I love love LOOOVE Omori from the amazing soundtrack to the really charming art style it's such a lovely game and there is so much to do. The horror starts relatively quickly and though it's faint I really like it. There are very hardly any cheap jumpscares, maybe two or three depending on if you get some random ones. A lot of it is that tense horror atmosphere and it's incredibly neat and fun to experience imo.
Like I mentioned there is quite a few serious topics covered so I recommend looking up a CW list if you think you may be sensitive to some of those. I think the way the Omocat team represents things like panic attacks and phobias is done in a really unique and cool way and it really makes you feel for the main character.
Okay I will stop being ill now but. This game is so so so so so cool I promise.
